Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Systems Engineer to support the deployment and interconnection of large-scale PV and Energy Storage systems. This role requires experience and expertise with the interconnection of utility scale PV systems, Energy Storage systems, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and inverter based resources (IBRs) at the transmission and distribution levels, and a working knowledge of the interconnection requirements and processes of states, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs).

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The annual salary range for this position (Applicable to California) is 160,000.00 to 180,000.00.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Systems Engineer to support the deployment and interconnection of large-scale PV and Energy Storage systems. This role requires experience and expertise with the interconnection of utility scale PV systems, Energy Storage systems, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and inverter based resources (IBRs) at the transmission and distribution levels, and a working knowledge of the interconnection requirements and processes of states, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or assist customers with submission of interconnection applications for PV and Energy Storage projects under ISO, RTO, and utility-specific processes.
- Collaborate with project engineering, development, and permitting teams to ensure project designs comply with applicable state, ISO/RTO, utility and federal requirements.
- Translate ISO/RTO study requirements into technical guidance for product development teams.
- Support modeling and validation of inverter-based PV and storage systems per ISO/RTO/utility requirements (e.g., PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation required for interconnection studies, permitting, and compliance audits.
- Generate regulatory compliance checklists, risk assessments, and mitigation plans for each project.
- Support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and compliance filings.
- Contribute to industry forums, standards committees, and working groups to shape emerging IBR regulations.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience and 10 years of experience with utility scale generation, in particular transmission connected PV, energy storage, and/or other IBRs, and DER.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO/RTO interconnection processes (PJM, MISO, CAISO, ERCOT, etc.).
- Working knowledge of FERC regulations, NERC reliability standards, PURPA, and their application.
- Experience with grid modeling tools for interconnection and stability studies.
- Detailed understanding of interconnection standards: IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030, IEEE 2800, etc.
- Strong ability to interpret and communicate regulatory/technical requirements to cross-functional teams.
- Experience preparing regulatory filings, compliance documentation, and technical reports.
- Demonstrated success with projects with various ISOs and utilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
