Our east coast retail client is seeking an AVP Media & Digital Marketing to lead a high-impact performance media organization within a complex, multi-brand environment. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving near-term business performance through data-driven media investment strategies, while defining a long-term vision that future-proofs the in-house media practice. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in performance marketing, strong executive presence, and a proven ability to lead large teams, partner cross-functionally, and deliver profitable growth at scale.
The Basics
- Duration: 6 months
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Location: Hybrid; Onsite 2-3 times a week in Framingham, MA
- 15 years of experience leading performance media teams within in-house marketing, agencies, or platform organizations
- Deep expertise across biddable media channels, including search, social, video, and affiliate marketing, with a strong focus on ecommerce growth
- Proven ability to develop and execute media investment strategies using forecasting, testing, and data-driven optimization to drive profitable sales and market share
- Experience managing and developing large, multi-disciplinary teams across performance media functions
- Strong ability to interpret complex ecommerce performance data and translate insights into actionable investment strategies
- Established experience partnering with major media and technology vendors in the performance marketing ecosystem
- Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders through clear storytelling and strategic narrative development
- Experience collaborating closely with ecommerce, brand, IT, analytics, and agency partners
- Track record of building testing and learning agendas that accelerate performance improvements
- Strong leadership presence with a coaching and mentorship mindset
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, innovative, and high-performing team cultures
- Set and own the vision for in-house media within the broader marketing ecosystem, balancing immediate business priorities with long-term strategic objectives
- Lead the development of holistic media strategies that drive ecommerce sales, profitability, and market share growth
- Establish forecasting models, investment frameworks, and testing roadmaps to optimize media performance across channels
- Guide data-driven decision-making through advanced analysis, measurement, and performance insights
- Translate brand and business strategies into clear media briefs that inspire innovative and effective plans
- Partner closely with cross-functional leaders to ensure integrated, customer-centric media execution
- Oversee media partner performance to ensure alignment with strategic goals and KPIs
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing in-house media team with strong strategic and analytical capabilities
- Champion a culture of testing, learning, innovation, and intelligent risk-taking
- Build and nurture strong relationships across internal teams, agency partners, and the broader media and technology ecosystem
