Submission Deadline

• All paperwork due Wednesday at noon (MST) the week before start
• Permanent address must be ≥25 miles from facility

• Beds: 15
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
  • Typically 1:2
  • Some patients require 1:1
• Charge Nurse:
  • Present 24/7
  • No patient assignment (resource role)
• Nurse Aides:
  • 1 per shift

• Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be completed before start)
• Preferred: TNCC

• No Pediatrics
• Common cases include:
  • Sepsis
  • COVID
  • Trauma
  • CABG (no immediate post-op/fresh OR cases for travelers)
  • Respiratory failure
  • Overdose / ETOH
  • Suicidal ideation (SI)
  • Post-op patients
  • Cardiac support:
    • SWAN
    • IABP
    • Ventricular support devices
    • STEMI (TR bands, femoral access)

• Minimum 1 year recent ICU experience (must be current, not outdated)
• Epic charting experience required
• Must be comfortable with:
  • Ventilator & BiPAP troubleshooting
  • High-acuity critical care

• RNs titrate drips: Yes
• Common drips:
  • Sedation
  • Pressors
  • Anti-arrhythmics
  • Paralytics
  • Other critical care infusions

• Equipment:
  • Ventilators
  • BiPAP / CPAP
  • HFNC
• Respiratory Therapy (RT):
  • Available 24/7
  • May be physically present in ICU depending on vent volume

• Telemetry available on unit
• RNs required to read their own strips
• Monitor techs assist with observation

• Intensivist:
  • In-house 7 AM – 7 PM
  • On-call overnight
• Hospitalist:
  • In-house 24/7

• Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (or PM equivalent)
• Scheduler creates schedule
• Block scheduling not guaranteed
• Must be flexible to meet unit needs

• Weekends: Every other
• Holidays: As needed
• Call/Standby: Possible (low census)
• Floating:
  • Required to Med/Surg
  • Possibly ER (if experienced)

• Navy blue scrubs

• 2 shifts on unit
