Responsibilities
This position is responsible for all plumbing, piping and steam systems and equipment. These systemsare life support systems or essential utilities, including medical gasses / vacuum. Sewage systems,domestic water supply, domestic hot and cold water generation and distribution and steam andcondensation systems (i.e., sterilization).
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Installs, repairs and maintains hospital fixtures and equipment such as urinals, toilets,sinks, drinking fountains, faucets.Install, inspects, and maintains all existing plumbing systems and related lines such as hot and coldwater lines, steam lines, sewer lines.Completes inspections of all plumbing systems and equipment according to establishedprocedures completing log sheets, checklists and PM sheets as required.Completes required documentation in reference to mechanical systems as required by federal,state and regulatory agencies.Works as part of the project team.Assist other skilled workers and perform general maintenance work as requested.Assist Contractors with building information as needed.Facilitates the efficient operation of the department by answering the telephone andassisting callers or visitors with requests.Safe handling / disposal / packaging for Transport of Pharmaceutical Waste / HazardousMaterials / Bio- Hazardous Regulated Medical Waste. 1) Completes the Resource ConservationRecovery Act (RCRA) and Hazardous Waste education during employee orientation. 2) Tri-annuallyeducation for the D.O.T training. 3) is knowledgeable of the process for identifying the properwaste stream and uses the appropriate container to dispose of waste. 4) Knowledgeable regardingthe process to contact the emergency response coordinator for hazardous waste / pharmaceuticalrelease / spill clean-up.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Required Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalentApprenticeship program or 2 year associate's degree preferred PlumberJourneyman License Preferred5 years commercial plumbing experienceRequired Licensure and Certifications :

Must have strong relationship building skills and the ability tomake and use connections throughout CHI Saint Joseph Health tocomplete projects and maintain strong partnerships with otherdepartments.Must have strong initiative and be able to gather and analyzeinformation skillfully and be able to brainstorm alternativeresources and directions.Must be able to break down complex tasks into manageableparts in a systematic, detailed way and considers input fromseveral sources.Must be detail oriented in gathering relevant data whileattending to essential details; checks work for accuracy andquality.Must be able to problem-solve by identifying and resolvingproblems in a timely manner, as well as develop alternativesolutions when needed.Must have great flexibility and the ability to continually look forways to make appropriate adjustments and changes ratherthan identifying why things cannot be accomplished in order tomeet the changing needs of CHI Saint Joseph Health.Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret commonand industry-related documents.Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries orcomplaints from CHI Saint Joseph Health leadership and staff.Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establishfacts and draw valid conclusions.Must have the ability to interpret an extensivevariety of instructions and deliver successful results.
