Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register and POS system accurately for convenience store, fuel, hot food, and beverage transactions
- Process payments by cash, credit, debit, and fleet or fuel cards, including prepay and post-pay fuel sales at the counter
- Greet and assist customers, answer questions about products and services, and handle concerns with patience and professionalism
- Verify ID and follow all state and federal rules for alcohol and tobacco sales
- Serve, stock, rotate, and maintain the hot food case following food safety and temperature log procedures
- Stock shelves, coolers, and beer displays, face and rotate product, and keep merchandising displays neat and full
- Promote featured items, combos, and loyalty offers to build add on sales
- Balance the cash drawer at shift change, complete shift paperwork, and follow all cash handling and safe drop procedures
- Keep the store, coffee and fountain station, restrooms, and front counter area clean, stocked, and presentable
- Support fuel island staff during peak periods and assist with driver check ins as needed
- Follow all safety, security, and loss prevention procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience with POS systems, cashiering, or retail sales is preferred but not required
- Must be at least 18 years of age to sell beer, wine, and tobacco products
- Oregon Food Handler Card required, or willingness to obtain one within 30 days of hire
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling, drawer counts, and retail math
- Strong communication skills and good phone etiquette for helping customers in person and over the phone
- Attention to detail and comfort working independently during quieter shifts
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve our diverse customer base
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and move between the store and fuel island in varying weather
- Supervising experience or leadership skills are a plus for those interested in growth opportunities
