Required Education
- Completion of an accredited sonography or radiography program.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARDMS registration in either Vascular Technology (RVT) or RDMS (Abdominal or OB/GYN) within 6 months of employment, with RVT preferred first, and both RVT and RDMS within 12 months of employment.
- A third certification in Abdominal or OB/GYN must be completed within 18 months of employment.
- Employees providing breast imaging must obtain RDMS (Breast) certification within 24 months of achieving competency.
- Employees hired specifically for vascular sonography, who are not eligible for Abdomen and OB/GYN certifications, are exempt from these requirements.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
