Job Summary:
- Interview patients to determine medical problems/conditions and document them in the electronic medical records (EMR) for physician review.
- Obtain and record patient's vital signs, including weight, and assist the physician during patient examinations as needed. Explain procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation and alleviate apprehension.
- Maintain awareness of patient comfort and safety needs.
- Manage lipids, proteins, and phone triage of patient concerns.
- Follow up on physician orders and lab requests, obtain direction from the physician as needed, and inform patients of test results and any further treatment prescribed. Provide explanation and education to patients and document services performed in the EMR for billing purposes.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, notify supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatment, and significant incidents, and assist the physician in clinical care of the patient.
- Document nursing history in EMR and conduct physical assessments for assigned patients. Initiate a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the physician.
- Abstract patient records via the EMR.
- Occasionally sort or prepare charts, though this is not a routine part of the position.
- Utilize EMR functions such as tasking, messaging, and disease management.
- Use Centricity and other software as appropriate to support nursing functions.
- Respond to emergency situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain crash cart and defibrillator.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience with defibrillator, blood pressure monitor, EKG equipment, treadmill, and crash cart maintenance.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Centricity, as well as use of copier and fax machines.
- Three years of RN experience.
- Experience in oncology and chemotherapy infusion.
Required Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Health Network accepts AD and Diploma nurses.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Licensed RN by State Board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Salary : $44 - $46
