- Position patients and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body as requested by the physician.
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding, cooperation, and to reduce anxiety.
- Administer appropriate pharmaceuticals pursuant to procedure, place IVs, and administer enemas as required.
- Practice radiation protection techniques by using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation exposure to the patient, staff, and others as necessary.
- Move radiographic equipment into specified positions and adjust equipment controls to set graphic exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
- Obtain acceptable radiographic images using appropriate Computerized Radiology and/or CR/DR techniques and protocols.
- Acquire and disseminate patient information data for exam orders using the Hospital EMR System.
- Write information in patient charts as required or necessary.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure proper operating status.
- Report malfunctions pursuant to established protocols.
- Maintain examination rooms and stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies pursuant to established protocols.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
- Work directly with patients and/or customers, and with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction, as well as with other healthcare professionals and staff.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience.
- Working knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols, CR/Film screen exposure techniques and protocols, Computerized Tomography, Mammography, and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging technical principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to properly administer pharmaceuticals intravenously for imaging procedures.
- Knowledge of sharps usage practices and techniques.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to integrate the analysis of data to develop knowledge, concepts, or interpretations.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
- Detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current CPR Certification.
