Radiologic Technologist

Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist performs high-quality general diagnostic radiology procedures while adhering to UNC Health departmental protocols, policies, and safety standards. This role involves accurate image acquisition, patient care, PACS/RIS documentation, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general diagnostic radiology exams with accuracy and efficiency.
• Verify patient identity, exam orders, demographics, and pregnancy status prior to imaging.
• Obtain relevant patient history and assess patient condition to determine appropriate imaging approach.
• Produce, critique, QC, and transmit images to PACS; ensure proper documentation in RIS.
• Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment; report issues to appropriate resources.
• Ensure patient safety, respond to emergency situations, and assist patients requiring special care.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and document incidents or improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with staff and share knowledge with coworkers and students as appropriate.

Education Requirements

• Associate's Degree from an accredited Radiologic Sciences program (or equivalent).
  
  

Required Certifications

• ARRT Certification in Radiography (RT[R])
• Active registry status with ongoing continuing education
• BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers
