Job Duties
- Administer medication and perform treatments as ordered by the physician, within the scope of your license.
- Handle medications in various forms, including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository.
- Perform treatments such as sterile and aseptic wound cleaning, postural drainage, tracheostomy, gastrostomy, and catheter care.
- Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments.
- Ensure adequate supplies and medication are available.
- Communicate information regarding residents' medical, social, and functional needs.
- Participate in shift reports and communicate with residents, families, and staff to ensure appropriate care.
- Complete initial admission nursing assessments for newly admitted residents.
- Assist with the development of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing reviews, and care plans.
- Maintain clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnoses, treatments, and resident progress.
- Supervise subordinate staff and assist with direct resident care, including activities of daily living.
- Implement and monitor Arizona Management System (AMS) methods, utilizing AMS tools for problem-solving and work process improvements.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
- Conduct and participate in in-service training and staff development programs.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, and may collect and analyze data for quality improvement and infection control programs.
- Train and orient new employees.
- Understanding of gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice.
- Knowledge of resident conditions and changing medical, physical, and psychological care needs.
- Familiarity with team nursing practices and procedures for implementing treatment plans.
- Knowledge of pharmacology and medicine practices and procedures.
- Understanding of federal, state, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing practical nursing practices.
- Ability to observe and report resident behavior and progress.
- Skills in oral and written communication and interpersonal interactions.
- Must possess an LPN license.
Salary : $44 - $45
