Major Responsibilities
- Provide specific orientation, training, and competency assessment for all new department employees under the supervision of the Core Lab Manager.
- Conduct at least one hour of an approved continuing education program annually and participate in at least eighteen (18) contact hours of continuing education programs annually.
- Perform, review, and report laboratory tests according to laboratory policies and procedures.
- Review and take corrective action on all unusual, abnormal, and critical results.
- Provide technical expertise to employees and medical staff concerning lab tests performed in the Special Chemistry department.
- Liaise with Core Lab Manager on workstation organization, problem-solving, and productivity.
- Complete workload in a timely manner.
- Conduct annual competency checks for all employees in the core lab department performing special chemistry tests under the supervision of the Core Lab Manager.
- Prepare, distribute, and evaluate special chemistry tests for new employee training and student teaching.
- Assist with performance evaluation reviews for technical performance and maintain procedure manuals current and accurate.
- Aid Core Lab Manager in special projects such as implementing new equipment and researching new technology to improve or expand current lab testing capabilities.
- Review unusual or abnormal results and take corrective action.
- Troubleshoot equipment and QC failures.
- Understand computer downtime procedures.
- Support and maintain a positive work environment by communicating and enforcing all established departmental and hospital policies.
- Communicate effectively with peers.
- Maintain appropriate supply inventory, restock workstation, and assist Core Lab Manager in supply management of reagents and cost per test.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary : $73,840 - $110,760
