Requirements
Two full-time, non-exempt contract professionals will provide temporary remote coverage through December 31, 2026. Working 8-hour day shifts and 80 hours per pay period, the role involves managing the Trauma Services registry database, identifying qualifying trauma cases, reviewing and abstracting medical records, coding diagnoses, and maintaining accurate, timely, and accessible data. Responsibilities include submitting registry data to applicable county or state agencies, resolving registry quality assurance issues, and producing reports for research, performance improvement, quality improvement, and administration. The role also supports department records, computer files, reference materials, multidisciplinary team activities, and special projects while maintaining confidentiality and supporting compliance with Client Trauma Standards 4.31, 6.2, and 6.3.

Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
- 1 year of recent relevant experience.
- Proficiency in ICD-9 coding.
- Experience with medical record review, data abstraction, and diagnosis and treatment coding.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Understanding of confidentiality, medical information release, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
- Ability to perform basic analytical calculations and maintain accurate, timely registry data.
- Effective communication skills in written and spoken English, with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with trauma registry database systems.
- Experience submitting trauma registry data to county or state agencies.
- Experience producing reports for injury research, performance improvement, quality improvement, or administration.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary healthcare teams and department projects.
