Tax Accountant

Talent Recruiting Professionals is partnering with a growing boutique tax advisory firm in Birmingham to add a Tax Accountant to its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career tax professional who enjoys tax but wants more exposure, mentorship, and long-term growth than they may be getting in a traditional public accounting environment.

You’ll work closely with experienced tax leadership in a small, entrepreneurial firm serving business owners and growing companies. The immediate focus will be hands-on tax preparation and compliance, with the opportunity to gain exposure to more sophisticated tax planning, entity structuring, and advisory work as you develop.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns
• Prepare partnership and S corporation tax returns
• Assist with C corporation returns as needed
• Prepare supporting workpapers, schedules, extensions, and quarterly estimates
• Assist with basis calculations and other pass-through entity tax matters
• Support multi-state tax filings and compliance
• Perform tax research and assist with tax notices
• Work closely with senior tax professionals to resolve tax and client-related questions
• Gain exposure to proactive tax planning, entity structuring, and advisory projects
• Manage multiple returns and deadlines throughout busy season

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 1–3 years of tax preparation experience, preferably in public accounting
• Hands-on experience preparing individual and business tax returns
• Experience with partnerships and S corporations strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of tax accounting fundamentals
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• CPA is not required, but CPA eligibility, EA designation, or interest in pursuing either is a plus
