Payroll Specialist (Entry Level)

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Entry-Level Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone starting their career in payroll or HR who is eager to learn, highly organized, and comfortable working with data in a fast-paced environment. You will support the payroll process for temporary and internal employees while gaining hands-on experience with payroll systems, compliance, and customer service.
Responsibilities

Process weekly payroll for temporary associates and internal employees accurately and on schedule

Review and enter timesheets, verifying hours, pay rates, approvals, and job assignments

Set up and maintain employee direct deposit information, tax forms, wage garnishments, and other payroll deductions

Maintain accurate employee records within the payroll/HRIS system

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws

Communicate with recruiters, managers, and employees to resolve payroll discrepancies or missing information

Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits as needed

Collaborate with accounting and HR to ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and record-keeping

Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding paycheck questions and payroll policies

Support special projects and process improvements within the payroll department
Qualifications
0–2 years of payroll, HR, accounting, or administrative experience (internships or coursework welcomed)

Interest in payroll, HR operations, or accounting

Basic understanding of payroll concepts and wage & hour laws (training provided)

Experience with payroll or HR software is a plus but not required

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
