Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevents illness and injury, and alleviates suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy for individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights, fostering a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage nursing care for a group of patients, considering safety, effectiveness, competency, and cost.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
- Administer medications safely, following UHS Hospitals policy.
- Ensure productivity and effective resource utilization.
- Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
- Participate in the Nursing Shared Governance Model and support improvement initiatives.
- Engage in professional development and continuing education.
- Incorporate nursing research and evidence into practice.
- Support learning for new employees and students.
- Perform duties of Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator when assigned.
- Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
Required Skills & Experience:
- 6 months – 3 years of Nursing (RN) experience.
- Collaboration, communication, critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning, problem-solving, quality, reliability, safety, and risk management.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
Schedule Notes
CVOR RN: Experience in Cardiovascular OR required
Work Hours: 4, 10-hour shifts M-F (7a-5:30p). May staff general OR if cardiac volume is low.
Call Hours: 2 to 3 shifts per week (5:30p-6a) and every other weekend (24 hours on Saturday, 24 hours on Sunday)
