Job Summary
Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Unit
Type: PERM / Full-time Registered Nurse
Nights 7p-7a, 2 x12
The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures. The purpose is to monitor and evaluate patient functional status.
Job Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to care for patients, considering patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
- Document steps of the nursing process using proper medical terminology, addressing problems, and progress toward goals.
- Facilitate patient discharge through timely and appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources.
- Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate and support unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities.
Decision Making
- Exercise independent judgment in making decisions from diversified alternatives, subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationship
- Coordinate activities of others without supervising.
- Lead others in the same work performed without supervising.
- Provide input on performance evaluations but do not prepare or give them.
- Work directly with patients and/or customers, internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction, and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff, frequently interacting with individuals at the Director level or above.
Required Skills & Experience
- Up to six months of related experience.
- Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
- Attention to detail as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
