Shape the Future of a Growing Organization

Talent Group has partnered with a successful, well-established, multi-location organization to identify an experienced Human Resources Manager who is ready to make a lasting impact.

This is far more than a traditional HR management role.

We're looking for a strategic HR leader who enjoys building organizations, partnering with executive leadership, and creating an exceptional employee experience. You'll have a seat at the leadership table, helping guide organizational growth while serving as a trusted advisor to ownership and management.

As the company continues expanding throughout California and Nevada, you'll play a key role in developing the people, processes, and organizational structure that will support its next chapter of growth.

If you're looking for an opportunity where your voice matters and your expertise will directly influence business decisions, we'd love to speak with you.

About the Company

This growing organization currently employs approximately 85–100 employees across five locations, with plans to continue expanding.

You'll primarily be based in Stockton while supporting locations throughout:

  • Stockton
  • Merced
  • Fresno
  • Sacramento
  • Reno

Most travel consists of day trips, with only occasional overnight travel to Reno.

What You'll Do

As the Human Resources Manager, you'll oversee the complete HR function while partnering closely with ownership and leadership to strengthen the organization for today—and prepare it for tomorrow.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as the organization's trusted HR advisor to ownership and executive leadership.
  • Help evaluate organizational structure and recommend improvements as the company continues to grow.
  • Develop career paths and advancement opportunities for employees.
  • Support succession planning and long-term workforce development.
  • Advise leadership regarding employment trends, compliance, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Help prepare the business for future growth and expansion.

Human Resources Leadership

  • Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment through separation.
  • Lead employee relations, coaching, investigations, performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Administer leave programs, FMLA, accommodations, employee classifications, and HR compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with California employment law, OSHA requirements, workers' compensation, DOT regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reporting, policies, and documentation.

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for professional and skilled labor positions.
  • Develop proactive recruiting strategies that build long-term talent pipelines.
  • Partner with hiring managers to improve hiring processes and workforce planning.
  • Create compelling job descriptions and recruiting strategies that attract high-quality candidates.

Payroll, Benefits & HR Operations

  • Oversee the company's relationship with its third-party payroll provider.
  • Administer the Paycom HRIS and payroll platform.
  • Manage benefits administration, annual open enrollment, vendor relationships, and employee education.
  • Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, HRIS maintenance, background checks, and compliance documentation.
  • Partner with Accounting, IT, and Operations to ensure a seamless employee experience.

Who You Are

We're seeking an experienced HR professional who has already led the full Human Resources function and enjoys balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree.
  • Possess five or more years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
  • Have experience managing HR across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of California employment law and HR compliance.
  • Be experienced with payroll and HRIS platforms (Paycom experience is highly preferred).
  • Hold a SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification (preferred).

Most importantly, you're someone who is:

  • A trusted advisor to executive leadership.
  • Highly approachable with an open-door leadership style.
  • Confident navigating difficult employee situations with professionalism and compassion.
  • Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Passionate about building culture while supporting business objectives.
  • Committed to continuous learning and staying current with employment laws and HR best practices.

What Success Looks Like

During your first year, you'll:

  • Build trusted relationships with employees across every location.
  • Strengthen recruiting strategies for skilled labor and operational positions.
  • Evaluate and improve organizational structure where appropriate.
  • Enhance HR systems, communication, and compliance processes.
  • Become a valued strategic partner to ownership and the leadership team.
  • Help create career development opportunities that support employee retention and future company growth.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Competitive salary of $100,000–$125,000 DOE
  • Company pays approximately 70% of medical premiums for employees and dependents
  • Excellent 401(k) with a 6% company match
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave
  • Company-provided technology and business tools
  • High level of executive visibility
  • Opportunity to influence company culture and long-term strategy
  • Stable, growing organization with exceptional leadership
  • Long-term career growth and advancement potential
