We are partnering with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary engineering, environmental and construction services business to recruit a Business Development Manager, based in Connecticut. This is a key growth role focused on developing new client relationships, new business opportunities and strategic partnerships across state and local government, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, environmental and facilities markets.
The successful candidate will be commercially driven, highly proactive and comfortable working across technical service lines to bring integrated solutions to market.
The Opportunity:
This role is focused on driving organic growth through targeted business development, market insight and relationship-led sales. You will help identify, develop and convert new opportunities across a range of high-value service areas, including:
- Integrated Design-Build - combining engineering design, construction delivery and project management to deliver faster, more cost-effective infrastructure and development solutions.
- Environmental Remediation & Consortium Solutions - supporting utilities, chemical manufacturers and complex industrial clients with creative remediation strategies.
- Asset Revitalization - helping unlock brownfield and stranded industrial assets through de-risking, redevelopment strategy and innovative financing approaches.
- Integrated Facilities & Compliance Solutions - supporting manufacturers, defense-related facilities and industrial clients with EHS, wastewater treatment, energy efficiency, environmental compliance, permitting and facility engineering services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive new client acquisition and business growth across target markets.
- Achieve annual growth objectives through new relationships and new opportunities.
- Focus on state and local government initiatives, industrial clients and complex facility-based opportunities.
- Identify, research and qualify prospective clients, competitors and market opportunities.
- Generate and develop warm leads to support business development growth targets.
- Manage pursuit timelines, lead progression and execution through to close.
- Support RFP/RFQ processes, submissions and proposal development.
- Coordinate with technical and project teams to ensure client deliverables and expectations are met.
- Develop growth reports, interpret market data and translate insights into practical recommendations.
- Identify relevant trade associations, industry events and conference opportunities.
- Work closely with division heads and senior leadership to align business development activity with strategic growth priorities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to bring integrated solutions to clients.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a high-energy, commercially minded Business Development professional who can build relationships, identify opportunities and translate technical capabilities into compelling client value.
You should bring:
- Experience in business development, client development, sales or growth roles within engineering, environmental, construction, infrastructure, industrial services, facilities, EHS or related markets.
- Strong understanding of state/local government, industrial, manufacturing or infrastructure-related clients.
- Ability to develop new relationships and open doors with prospective clients.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Creative, solutions-led approach to business development.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple pursuits at once.
- Confidence working with technical experts, project teams and senior leadership.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- BS/BA in Business, Marketing or a related field preferred.
