Design Engineer

Well Established and extremely well run Medical Device company in Carlsbad seeks an early career Design Engineer to join its product development team. This is a newly created role due to sustained growth in the company. Ideal candidates will possess Design Engineering experience in a Spine, Orthopedic, or Dental industry company with at least a year of CAD Modeling background. Will also consider Manufacturing Engineers that have a desire to transition to design work. Excellent benefits and a great group of seasoned engineers to learn from and collaborate with.

JOB SCOPE

• Create CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using Creo to modify/maintain existing spine implant products and support new device designs.
• Update and write documentation/design history files to support designs in accordance with Design Control and Risk Management procedures
• Work with Engineering Services team to generate and analyze test data and reports to verify that prototypes meet functional and performance specifications
• Collaborate with internal teams, design surgeons, and manufacturers to establish necessary design inputs, uphold project plans, and achieve project objectives.
• Work with suppliers and other vendors on technical issues, ensuring engineering designs and product standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process
• Participate in product validation cadaver labs with design surgeons and product marketing team
• Perform other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

*Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Bioengineering, or Biomedical Engineering

*1 year of Design or Manufacturing Engineering background in the medical device industry (orthopedics/spinal/dental preferred)

*Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
