About the Opportunity
A growing residential construction and custom homebuilding organization is seeking a Senior Vice President of Operations to join its executive leadership team. This is a newly created role designed for an experienced operational leader who can serve as a strategic partner to the President while helping the organization scale, improve processes, and create stronger accountability across the business.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in custom or luxury residential homebuilding, along with proven success in process improvement, change management, purchasing, estimating, and cross-functional leadership.
This is not a purely high-level executive position. The organization is looking for someone who is strategic but still close to the work — someone who understands how a construction business operates day to day and can turn big-picture strategy into practical execution.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a strategic partner to the President and translate company goals into actionable operational plans.
- Drive process improvement and operational efficiency across the homebuilding lifecycle.
- Oversee key functions including Estimating, Purchasing, Finance, and Legal.
- Improve coordination and handoffs across Sales, Drafting & Design, Estimating, Purchasing, and Construction.
- Establish KPIs, goals, accountability measures, and quarterly reviews for department leaders.
- Lead change-management initiatives and successfully implement new processes throughout the organization.
- Develop operating strategies for multiple residential product types, including custom and luxury homes.
- Oversee vendor strategy, onboarding, pricing, value engineering, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Partner with Finance leadership on budgeting, project financing, and overall company performance.
- Improve internal and client-facing closing processes.
- Evaluate and implement technology and systems that improve efficiency and scalability.
- Participate in annual planning, quarterly objectives, staffing strategy, and Board preparation.
The role is intended to complement the President with stronger process orientation, business acumen, strategic execution, and change-management leadership.

- Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting, P&L management, and cost control.
- Experience with value engineering, vendor management, and construction cost optimization.
- Ability to translate strategy into practical execution.
- Comfortable operating in a growing, entrepreneurial environment without excessive layers or bureaucracy.
