Project / Field Engineer
Location: Savannah, GA (Onsite)
Compensation: $100,000–$110,000 depending on experience
Position Summary
This role offers a blended engineering experience—part in-office project engineering and part in-field technical execution. The Project / Field Engineer will support system design, equipment specification, installation oversight, troubleshooting, and customer startup support. This position requires someone who can work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and mentor junior engineers when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and setup of water and wastewater filtration systems.
- Split time between office engineering work (design, planning, coordination) and field activities (installation, commissioning, troubleshooting).
- Ensure systems are built and operating according to design specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and basic controls-related issues during startup.
- Select pumps, valves, blowers, piping, and control components appropriate for each project.
- Develop technical drawings, diagrams, and documentation.
- Review project plans, specifications, and submittals.
- Collaborate with vendors, manufacturing partners, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely production and delivery of system components.
- Assist with procurement and equipment ordering.
- Provide technical expertise to support sales on complex or custom projects.
- Visit customer sites (approximately once per month, typically Monday–Thursday) to oversee installation and system startup.
- Train operators on system use and maintenance.
- Document field issues, resolutions, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 4 years as a Project Engineer or Field Engineer with water filtration or process equipment experience required
- Travel to customer sites 1x per month across US, typically Mon–Thurs, all expenses paid with high-quality accommodations
- BS in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering or similar is required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, and PDF editing tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to work hands-on in the field.
- Experience with mechanical or hydraulic systems; filtration or process equipment experience strongly preferred.
- Basic understanding of sensors, controls, and PLC concepts is beneficial.
