Operations & Production Manager – Metal Manufacturing
Akron, OH (100% Onsite) | $90,000–$110,000/year, DOE | M–F, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

About Our Client
A small, privately owned and growing metal plating manufacturer in Akron, OH, serving automotive, aerospace, and general industrial customers. Mission: error-free, on-time plating with continuous improvement.
Our client is seeking a hands-on Operations & Production Manager to lead the Akron facility day-to-day — owning the shop floor, keeping jobs moving, holding the team accountable, and driving quality and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Own daily operations and lead the team; manage staffing, workflow, throughput, and on-time delivery
- Run a first-in/first-out workflow via production board and Excel; set priorities
- Hold employees accountable for procedures and documentation; ensure quality/customer specs are met
- Troubleshoot production issues; coordinate maintenance and preventative maintenance
- Partner with the Office Manager/quality-manufacturing function and leadership
- Maintain a safe, organized shop and drive continuous improvement
- Microsoft environment (Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint); comfortable with spreadsheets.
Requirements
- ~2–3 years hands-on metal manufacturing experience preferred, not required — strong manufacturing/production/operations management experience also considered
- No degree required; relevant technical training/certifications a plus
- Skills: production leadership, job-shop workflow, scheduling, people management, quality documentation, safety, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, continuous improvement, basic MS Office
- Must be comfortable in a smaller manufacturing environment, close to the floor
Compensation & Benefits
- $90,000–$110,000/year, DOE
- Medical: company pays 80% of premium
- 401(k): 3.5% company match
