Medical Gas Pipe Fitter
Location: Alexandria, VA
Pay: $33.00–$38.00 per hour (based on experience)
We are seeking an experienced Medical Gas Pipe Fitter for a hospital project. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of pipe fitting experience and a strong background installing medical gas piping systems in healthcare facilities. Candidates must be able to work safely, read construction drawings, and produce high-quality work in hospital environments.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of pipe fitting experience.
- Hospital/Medical Gas Installer Certification (ASSE 6010) required.
- Knowledge of NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities Code.
- Experience installing medical gas piping systems serving operating rooms, patient rooms, and other healthcare areas.
- Ability to read and interpret CADD drawings, blueprints, fabrication drawings, sketches, and submittals.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, thread, bend, and label pipe.
- Ability to lay out work for welders.
- Experience assembling and installing pipe, valves, fittings, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of brazing, soldering, and welding practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding Certification meeting the requirements of Section IX of the ASME Code.
- Previous experience working in hospitals or active healthcare facilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, climb, and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes.
- Ability to work safely while following all OSHA and healthcare facility safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install medical gas piping systems according to project specifications and applicable codes.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, and install pipe using hand and power tools.
- Locate and mark pipe runs, penetrations, and equipment locations.
- Assemble piping systems using couplings, clamps, fittings, brazing, soldering, and welding methods.
- Install valves, fixtures, and pipe assemblies in accordance with blueprints and NFPA 99 standards.
- Perform quality checks to ensure code compliance and system integrity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Coordinate with project managers, welders, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
