AI/ML Software Engineer

TCP is partnered with a fast-growing, Series A startup building AI-powered software that automates and scales customer interactions across voice, text, and web channels. Their platform powers millions of customer conversations and is transforming how businesses engage with customers using AI.

We’re hiring an AI/ML Software Engineer to help build and scale the real-time AI systems behind a production voice platform used in the automotive technology space. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong Python fundamentals who has experience building low-latency, reliable AI systems and wants broad ownership across inference, orchestration, observability, and production infrastructure.

You’ll work across the full voice AI pipeline, including STT, LLM orchestration, and TTS, while improving latency, model quality, cost, reliability, and system observability. You’ll also evaluate new models and providers, productionize AI research features, and help reduce technical risk within a small, highly technical team.

What You’ll Do

• Build and improve production Python services across STT, LLM, and TTS workflows.
• Reduce end-to-end latency and improve inference performance, reliability, and throughput.
• Build evaluation, monitoring, tracing, and alerting systems for production AI behavior.
• Evaluate and integrate new models, vendors, and provider failover strategies.
• Optimize AI infrastructure for scale, cost, and production reliability.
• Ship new voice capabilities such as multilingual support, backchanneling, and expressive speech.
• Partner closely with product, support, and engineering leadership.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Python engineering experience.
• Experience building and owning production AI or ML systems.
• Hands-on experience with NLP, LLMs, transformers, or generative AI.
• Experience with low-latency, real-time, distributed, or streaming systems.
• Knowledge of ML infrastructure, model serving, inference, or scalable backend systems.
• Experience with observability, tracing, monitoring, or OpenTelemetry.
• Strong system design and architecture fundamentals.
• Ability to balance model quality, latency, reliability, and cost.
• Strong ownership, technical judgment, and communication skills.

You'll Stand Out

• Voice AI, speech, telephony, WebRTC, STT, or TTS experience.
• Experience with Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Deepgram, NVIDIA, or similar platforms.
• Open-source LLM or inference optimization experience.
• Quantitative trading, specialized research, competitive programming, or elite technical program background.
• Early-stage startup or zero-to-one product experience.
