Systems Administrator – Security

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Security Specialist to administer, secure, maintain, and optimize enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, virtualized, hybrid, and cloud environments.

This position focuses on vulnerability management, security remediation, patch compliance, and infrastructure hardening across Windows, Linux, VMware, and cloud platforms. Experience with Tanium or similar endpoint management and security tools is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Security

• Administer and secure Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and cloud infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain security baselines, access controls, and system hardening standards.
• Identify and address infrastructure security weaknesses.

Vulnerability Management

• Identify, prioritize, track, and remediate vulnerabilities across servers, virtual machines, and cloud resources.
• Coordinate remediation timelines with infrastructure and security teams.
• Validate remediation efforts and ensure vulnerabilities are appropriately resolved.

Patch Management

• Coordinate operating system and infrastructure patching activities.
• Validate patch deployments and maintain patch compliance.
• Minimize business disruption during maintenance and remediation activities.

Security & Compliance

• Assess infrastructure configurations against established security standards.
• Identify and correct configuration weaknesses and compliance gaps.
• Support security audits, compliance reporting, and remediation initiatives.

Cloud & Virtualization

• Secure and maintain VMware environments, virtual machines, and cloud infrastructure.
• Manage security configurations and access controls across hybrid environments.
• Support infrastructure availability, performance, and security.

Security Tools & Automation

• Utilize endpoint management, asset discovery, vulnerability assessment, and patch management tools.
• Support vulnerability remediation using Tanium or similar platforms.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripts to automate patching, remediation, security validation, and reporting.

Troubleshooting & Documentation

• Troubleshoot infrastructure, configuration, patching, and security-related issues.
• Maintain accurate incident and change records within the IT service management system.
• Document infrastructure configurations, security standards, patching procedures, and remediation activities.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and other IT teams to resolve technical issues.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant IT infrastructure, systems administration, or security experience.
• Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of vulnerability management, remediation tracking, patching, and risk prioritization.
• Experience with VMware vSphere, virtual machines, and cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of infrastructure security, access management, storage, networking, identity, and endpoint systems.
• Experience with security hardening, configuration compliance, and infrastructure remediation.
• Familiarity with endpoint management, asset discovery, and vulnerability assessment tools.
• Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Experience with incident management, change management, technical documentation, and reporting.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Tanium or similar endpoint management, vulnerability management, and remediation platforms.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Hybrid schedule: Two days onsite per week.
• Standard business hours required, with optional flexible scheduling.
• Occasional after-hours work may be necessary for maintenance, patching, and security remediation.
• Work within a hybrid enterprise environment supporting on-premises, virtualized, and cloud infrastructure.
