A well-established Massachusetts General Contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their Preconstruction team and own the full estimating function across multiple public construction projects. This firm operates across healthcare, life sciences, education, corporate interiors, retail, and industrial sectors — delivering both new construction and complex renovations throughout the greater Boston market.
What you'll do
- Perform complete takeoffs across Divisions 3–11 and deliver full estimates with supporting documentation, including takeoffs, labor, and sub bids; civil/Divisions 31–33 experience a plus
- Source and manage the bid pipeline, attend pre-bids, and dissect documents to generate timely RFIs before deadline
- Develop budgets throughout the design lifecycle from conceptual estimates through construction document and buyout-ready budgets while advising owners and design teams along the way
- Define scope boundaries between filed subcontractors and GC self-perform, then solicit and level sub proposals to ensure complete, competitive coverage
- Identify long-lead items, constructability issues, and scope gaps early; develop value engineering strategies and flag risks across schedule, shift requirements, environmental conditions, and site logistics
- Manage 2–3 concurrent estimates simultaneously depending on project size and complexity
What you bring
- 5–10 years of estimating experience specifically on Massachusetts public construction / DCAMM projects
- Strong plan reading across architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings
- Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff, Construction Connect, Bluebeam, Procore, and Excel
- Established subcontractor relationships throughout New England
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a high-volume environment
- Clear written and verbal communication with owners, subs, vendors, and internal teams
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Pay: $160,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
