Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool Die Maker to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in precision machining, tooling, and fabrication processes, contributing to the development and maintenance of high-quality dies and molds. Duties
- Design, develop, and build custom tooling, dies, molds, and fixtures using CAD software such as SolidWorks and CAD programs.
- Operate CNC machines including CNC lathe, CNC milling machine, and stamping presses to produce high-precision parts.
- Program CNC equipment utilizing CAM programming and CNC programming skills to ensure accurate machining processes.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision tools to inspect parts and ensure specifications are met.
- Perform electrical discharge machining (EDM) to create complex shapes and fine features on tooling components.
- Fabricate tooling components through welding, assembly, hand tool operation, and fabrication techniques.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing schematics to ensure accuracy in production.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work processes and inspection reports for quality control purposes.
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and tooling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on new product development projects involving plastics injection molding or other manufacturing processes.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Tool Die Maker or in a similar precision machining role within a manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge of CNC programming (including CAM programming), CNC lathe operation, CNC milling machine operation, and stamping press operation.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles, schematics reading, mechanical drawings, and math skills related to machining tolerances.
- Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding techniques, fabrication methods, and assembly processes.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programs for designing tooling components.
- Familiarity with plastics injection molding processes is a plus.
- Ability to operate precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measurement tools accurately.
- Knowledge of manufacturing standards related to tooling fabrication and machining accuracy. This position requires a dedicated professional capable of delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety standards and technical specifications.
