Job Title: Supervisor of Information Technology

 

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Administration, Services, Strategies, and Services. 

 

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Administration, Services, Strategies, and Services, the Supervisor of Information Technology is responsible for planning, administration, and coordination of the technology program and its support. This position provides oversight, direction, and coordination of activities and programs within the Educational Technology and Administrative Technology groups.

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, Educational Technology, or other equivalent disciplines. Master’s degree preferred; . 
  2. Experience in K-12 Education 

Qualifications: 

  1. Demonstrated professional experiences in a technology leadership role. 
  2. Demonstrated experiences in K-12 education. 
  3. Strong understanding of setting up, configuring, and maintaining a network. 
  4. Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills. 
  5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both written and verbal. 
  6. Knowledge of student data systems. 
  7. Collaborates with all stakeholders to ensure effective student and staff outcomes. 

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinates, manages, and evaluates all technology infrastructures including operating systems, local and wide area networks to support instructional and administrative technologies for voice, video, data, and wireless implementations.
  2. Monitors the performance of security risk assessments and implements 3rd party audit recommendations to preempt, mitigate, and provide a rapid response to cybersecurity threats.
  3. Coordinates installation and maintenance of internet services.
  4. Prepares and reviews bid specifications for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for telephone and computer hardware, software, peripherals, supplies, parts, and all networking infrastructures.
  5. Maintains effective communication between all system divisions and the staff of the technology infrastructure division and instructional technology.
  6. Establishes and leads a regularly scheduled collaborative meeting(s) between key senior staff in divisions to maintain consistency of expectations as it relates to technology initiatives, infrastructure, and support needs.
  7. Works in collaboration with senior leadership from the divisions to forecast system technology needs and to develop, implement, monitor, and revise the system technology plan accordingly.
  8. Reviews current programs and services, and recommends appropriate upgrades and changes, in accordance with TCPS goals and objectives. This includes long-term planning, conducting feasibility studies, and maintaining awareness of relevant changes in technology and business trends.
  9. Communicates information and prepares reports for the board meetings as necessary.
  10. Supervises, trains, motivates, and evaluates staff to ensure quality performance.
  11. Oversees the planning, schedules, timelines, implementation, and end-user support of projects.
  12. Supervises assigned projects including requirements analysis, quality control, implementation and development activities, and system documentation.
  13. Manages some portion or assists in managing central office and school based staff to provide ongoing technical support and maintenance services related to technology.
  14. Assists in and documents the support services and processes needed to provide efficient work order flow.
  15. Organizes technical support for large system events (e.g. workshops).
  16. Organizes training needed to keep technical support staff up to date and facilitate cross training of technicians.
  17. Provides training to helpdesk to ensure timely, efficient, and customer-friendly service.
  18. Assists with implementing policies, procedures, and helpdesk standards that significantly improve customer service, increase first call closure rates and reduce customer Service Level Agreements.
  19. Directs posting of technology hardware on TCPS bid list.
  20. Maintains current technical expertise in the rapidly changing technology of computers and utilizes state-of-the-art techniques when implementing user support solutions.
  21. Assists in the development of educational and technology specifications for new school facilities and major renovations by developing specifications for hardware to support instructional and administrative technologies.
  22. Assists with managing the annual operating budget for the Technology Support department.
  23. Assists in preparing bid specifications for Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  24. Assists in identifying future applications of technology to address school system needs.
  25. Other duties may be assigned–occassional work hours outside of the normal work day to ensure tasks and functions are completed for the successful operation of school/offices.

The physical requirements of this job may require frequent talking, sitting, lifting, and standing. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Exempt position.  Twelve (12) month employment.
