Talascend is currently seeking a Distribution Design Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Walled Lake, Michigan.
Overview
This role involves pre-planning, engineering, and designing electric distribution systems, including determining the need, size, location, and timing of power delivery infrastructure development. The work supports utility projects to ensure reliability while balancing economic, environmental, social, and regulatory constraints.
Responsibilities
- Pre-plan, engineer, and design electric distribution systems, including overhead and underground residential distribution and underground cable/conduit.
- Develop work packages based on project requirements.
- Perform field engineering to identify utility conflicts and ensure project compliance.
- Conduct engineering and design calculations.
- Perform post-construction reviews of electrical distribution projects.
- Communicate effectively with peers to explain technical facts, analysis, and processes.
- Work on day-to-day objectives with limited impact beyond project scope and under supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Less than 2 years of relevant experience.
- Basic knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts related to electric distribution engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
