Overview
Bilingual (English/Spanish) Certified HECM Counselor needed for in-office role in Plantation, FL.
Full-time (40 hrs/week, Mon–Fri 9am–6pm ET) with hourly pay based on experience. Join a HUD-approved nonprofit helping seniors make informed reverse mortgage decisions.
Duties
- Conduct HECM counseling sessions in accordance with HUD guidelines
- Educate clients on reverse mortgages, including costs, benefits, risks, and alternatives
- Evaluate client financial situations to support informed decision-making
- Provide clear, unbiased guidance tailored to each client’s needs
- Maintain accurate, compliant client records and documentation
- Issue HECM counseling certificates upon completion
- Stay current on HUD regulations and industry updates
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and ongoing training
- Proficiency with computer systems and case management tools
Required Qualifications
- Active HECM Counselor Certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) – Required
- Strong knowledge of HECM/reverse mortgage guidelines and HUD requirements
- Excellent communication skills, especially with senior clients
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear, empathetic manner
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Proficiency with computer systems and case management tools
Preferred Qualifications
- HUD Housing Counseling Certification
- Experience with a HUD-approved housing counseling agency or nonprofit
- Existing relationships with HECM lenders
