Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator/Pre-Construction professional to join our team and drive the successful planning and costing of upcoming construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, developing comprehensive bid proposals, and collaborating closely with project teams to ensure all aspects of pre-construction are thoroughly evaluated. Your expertise will help secure new projects, optimize budgets, and set the foundation for seamless project execution. Core Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual through GMP estimates
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing
- Maintain cost histories and unit pricing
- Identify scope gaps, risk, and value-engineering opportunities
- Support bid strategy and turnover to operations
- Prepare detailed construction estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents using estimating software such as HeavyBid.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing and scope information.
- Utilize Bluebeam for reviewing drawings, markup management, and document collaboration to ensure clarity and precision in project documentation.
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Develop comprehensive pre-construction budgets that include cost control measures, risk assessments, and contingency planning.
- Review contracts, scope of work, and project schedules to align estimates with contractual obligations and project timelines.
- Assist in the development of bid proposals by compiling all cost components, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Support project management teams during the bidding process by providing detailed cost analysis and recommendations for pricing strategies.
- Monitor industry trends, material costs, labor rates, and market conditions to keep estimates current and competitive.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of heavy civil or commercial projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools is essential.
- Skilled in Bluebeam Revu for document review, markup management, and collaboration.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
- Solid knowledge of construction management principles, contracts, cost control techniques, and project scheduling.
- Ability to interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents accurately.
- Hands-on construction site experience is highly desirable to enhance understanding of field conditions impacting estimates.
