The AVL Technical Design Intern supports the Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) Design & Engineering team by assisting with documentation, organization, and deliverables preparation across disciplines. This role will learn TAIT processes, tools and standards, contribute to thorough and wel-organized project deliverables, and build foundational understanding of themed entertainment AVL systems under close guidance.
The AVL Design & Engineering team is responsible for system design across many different project types, including large-scale theme park attractions, lands, venues, and immersive environments. Work commonly includes concept, schematic, and detailed design, documentation of design intent, interdisciplinary coordination, and support of fabrication and installation.

Work commonly includes concept, schematic, and detailed design, documentation of design intent, interdisciplinary coordination, and support of fabrication and installation.
- Location: Orlando, FL
- Duration: May 2026 - August 2026
- Compensation: $18/hr.
- Schedule: Interns are scheduled to work 40 hours per week on 1st shift dependent on projects and business needs
- Eligibility: This role is open to U.S. Residents only
- Supports development and maintenance of AVL design intent documentation under the guidance of discipline leads and senior designers.
- Assists with document production using department templates and standards, with emphasis on clarity and consistency.
- Coordinates with adjacent disciplines to gather interface information and identify missing inputs.
- Participate in design reviews and technical coordination meetings. Captures notes, action items, and updates deliverables as assigned.
- Performs limited on-site support as assigned (site surveys, installation verification, field changes, troubleshooting) and documents observations.
- Applies TAIT standards, templates, and repeatable study/documentation methods. Identify opportunities to improve quality and consistency.
- Builds proficiency in relevant tools and workflows.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or recently completed) in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Technical Theater, Audio Engineering, or equivalent.
- Interest in themed entertainment and installed AVL systems. Willingness to learn is required.
- Exposure (coursework/projects acceptable) to one or more of: audio systems, video systems, lighting systems, networking fundamentals, controls/show systems.
- Exposure to documentation toolchains and workflows (AutoCAD and/or Revit, Bluebeam) is preferred.
- Ability to produce clear, organized documentation using standards/templates.
