Position Purpose

The Logistics Associate is an entry level logistics role responsible for managing dock operations; following inbound and outbound workflows, ensuring vehicles are loaded and unloaded in a timely manner, assisting build, wrap and palletize shipments and supporting departmental efficiency. This role serves as the subject‑matter expert on dock organization, and efficiency.

Essential Responsibilities / Accountabilities

• Assist Logistics Supervisor with palletizing, wrapping, and packaging domestic and international shipments
• Load and unload local driver trucks; assisting with vendor driver deliveries where applicable.
• Conduct in‑depth inspections on inbound and outbound materials for quality, packaging integrity, and compliance with specifications.
• Assist with keeping the dock space clean, clear, and functional. Moving items from the dock to departments as time permits, or alerting area supervisors.
• Perform quality checks on outgoing shipments (documentation accuracy, packaging compliance).
• Prioritize shipments based on production needs, deadlines, carrier schedules, and cost considerations.
• Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend corrective/preventive actions..
• Operate as an authorized backup driver in instances where we need additional support with logistics.
• Serve as the primary point of support for gear transfers between West Lincoln and other campus buildings
• Assist management by providing operational insights, suggesting improvements, and supporting team members.
• Enforce all safety procedures and ensure proper use of PPE.
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/ GED
• 1–3 years related shipping/receiving experience.
• Strong understanding of freight requirements, carriers, and logistics constraints.
• Proficiency with ERP and shipping software; ability to troubleshoot workflow issues.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and handle shifting priorities.
• Communication skills which include, but are not limited to, written and oral communication, active listening, nonverbal communication
• Teamwork through development of skills to collaborate with others to achieve departmental goals
• Dependability, responsibility, and consistency in job performance
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:

• Must be able to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.
• Must be able to carry 50 lbs

• Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions, including weather conditions for truck loading and unloading
• Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toe shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
