Delivery Manager – Airport OperationsAbout Tailwind Hospitality

At Tailwind Hospitality, we believe the journey should be just as memorable as the destination. Headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina, Tailwind operates more than 160 locations across 60 airports and transit stations nationwide. We specialize in developing, managing, and operating food, beverage, and retail concepts that deliver exceptional guest experiences.

We are looking for a Delivery Manager to oversee the receiving, storage, distribution, and stocking of products across our airport concession locations. This role is essential to keeping our operations running smoothly by ensuring every location has the products it needs to serve travelers efficiently, safely, and consistently.

Position Summary

The Delivery Manager is responsible for overseeing all inbound product deliveries and inventory distribution for Tailwind Hospitality's airport operations. This includes coordinating vendor deliveries, managing receiving and storage procedures, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring products are distributed and stocked appropriately across assigned units.

The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on leader with strong inventory management skills, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, security-sensitive airport environment.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving and Vendor Management

  • Schedule, receive, and inspect vendor deliveries to verify quantities, pricing, temperatures, expiration dates, and product condition against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules, dock access, security screening, and receiving procedures with airport personnel and central receiving or distribution facilities.
  • Build and maintain effective vendor relationships while resolving delivery discrepancies, shortages, damaged products, and credit requests.
  • Identify recurring delivery issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate management team.

Inventory and Product Distribution

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct cycle counts and monthly inventories, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper product rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out), accurate labeling, and established food safety standards across dry, refrigerated, and frozen storage areas.
  • Coordinate product distribution to assigned airport units according to established delivery schedules and operational priorities.
  • Ensure all units are stocked to established par levels and merchandising standards, minimizing out-of-stocks during peak travel periods.
  • Partner with unit managers to review sales trends, inventory levels, and product needs to prevent shortages and overstock.
  • Ensure products are handled, transported, stored, and distributed safely and efficiently throughout secured airport areas.

Team Leadership and Operations

  • Lead, schedule, train, and supervise the receiving and stocking team, assigning daily responsibilities, unit coverage, and delivery routes.
  • Establish daily priorities and hold team members accountable for accuracy, productivity, cleanliness, and service standards.
  • Train employees on proper product handling, inventory rotation, lifting techniques, food safety, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Monitor staffing levels and labor hours to ensure productivity and alignment with budget expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready receiving and storage area.

Compliance and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure invoices are accurately coded and submitted to Accounting within established deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, airport security requirements, food safety regulations, and applicable workplace safety standards.
  • Verify that team members maintain valid airport security credentials and complete all required security and safety training.
  • Support operational inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in receiving, warehouse operations, stocking, inventory management, or a related field; food and beverage or airport experience preferred.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, product rotation, receiving procedures, and food safety practices.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management systems, ordering platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lead a team, manage competing priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on airport operational needs.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and obtain and maintain an airport security badge, including SIDA credentials where applicable.
