Tails of the City is looking for a committed dog wrangler to care for the dogs that come in for doggy daycare on weekdays and weekends. We have been operating in the Capitol Hill neighborhood for 3 years and we are seeking an employee for about 25-30 hours per week and 1 overnight shift per week. The overnight shift is likely a week night and would be a straight $80 since it has special wage rules as you can sleep (and are encouraged to sleep) while working. We would love to find someone that would like to become a part of the team and grow and thrive with us and make a long-term commitment.
We are looking for someone that is ready to commit to being responsible for awesome customer service, loving on dogs every day, committing to strong communication, and an eagerness to stay in touch with management and our customers.
Job duties include managing the large and rambunctious dog play groups by engaging the dogs in play, reading dog body language in order to facilitate appropriate play between dogs, and maintain group safety and cleanliness. Tasks also include various cleaning duties and facility maintenance. The job environment is fast-paced and physically demanding. Communication with coworkers is a must as well as a positive attitude!
We prefer applicants with prior professional animal care experience and an eager to learn attitude!
Minimum Requirements:
* THE #1 THING IS A COMMITMENT TO SHOW UP FOR WORK AND BE GOOD TO YOUR FELLOW EMPLOYEES AND THE DOGS.
* Ability to lift 50 lbs, and stand for 4 - 8 hours
* Must be comfortable with all breeds and supervising 10-20 dogs in a large play area -- sizes of dogs range from 5 lbs to 180 lbs
* Reliable transportation
* Must be punctual and show up to work ready to do your job!
* Ability to work a flexible schedule
* Ability to work well in a solo and team environment and effectively prioritize the day with little supervision
* Ability to follow directions and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
* Professional animal care experience
* Knowledge of basic positive reinforcement training principles
* Excellent interpersonal skills, and customer service experience
