Job Title: Software Engineer II

Location: Remote (Must work PST timezone)

Contract: 6 Months

Rate:61.55/hr on w2

Our team is building core backend components that support AI-driven wearable technology. This role involves designing, optimizing, and scaling backend systems that power next-generation computing experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement core backend software components
• Write clean, maintainable code using primarily PHP / Hack
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate features and innovations
• Conduct design and code reviews
• Analyze and enhance system efficiency, scalability, and stability
• Own a component or feature end-to-end with deep understanding
• Deliver medium-scope projects with consistent high productivity
• Troubleshoot issues and make necessary system changes
• Improve quality through rigorous testing, monitoring, and rollout processes

Must Have Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Experience designing, analyzing, and improving system resource efficiency and scalability
• Experience owning a component, feature, or system end-to-end
• Experience building and shipping high-quality, reliable backend software
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues
• Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and backend systems
• Experience working with SQL or related development tools
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• Experience with scripting languages: Python, JavaScript, or Hack
• Experience writing unit tests and achieving high code coverage
• Experience with backend architectural patterns for large-scale software systems
• Ability to set technical direction, drive consensus, and lead cross-functional efforts

Key Projects / Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Review and approve modifications to existing databases and management systems
• Guide teams on writing logical & physical database descriptions
• Direct database development and manage project scope
• Review user requests to estimate cost and timelines
• Plan and implement system security measures
• Approve and supervise installation and testing of new products & system improvements
• Develop standards and guidelines for software usage and information protection

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong backend engineering (90% backend work)
• PHP / Hack
• SQL & data source experience
• Troubleshooting complex issues
• Strong communication & collaboration
• Ability to work in ambiguity

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Unit test development coverage
• Experience with top tech companies preferred

Interview Process:
