What are the responsibilities and job description for the Expediter position at Taiga Mining Company?
Seeking a part-time expediter to work in the Anchorage area. This is a seasonal position starting anytime between now and early April, and working through the end of October. Depending on candidate, skills/ability, and willingness to do other non-expediter related tasks, hours could range from 20-40 hours/week, and have some flexibility when hours are worked. Tasks must generally be completed during business hours between 8 to 5 Monday through Friday, but does not generally require a full 8 hours. Tuesday and Wednesday are the busiest days of the week with expediting and preparing items for shipment to rural sites. April through June are the busiest months with work generally available 5 days per week. July through October is slower and might only require 3 days per week or fewer hours per day. This is a great opportunity for someone who needs some flexibility in a work schedule, or often likes to start their weekends a little earlier on Fridays. Pay rate is $20-$25 per hour depending on skills, experience, and level of commitment.
Duties include, but not limited to:
· Picking up and/or shopping for parts orders from local venders
· Organizing freight, packaging fragile or bulky items, palletizing, shrink wrapping, and delivering to airport
· Coordinating shipping and delivering to shippers on time
· Working closely with field site manager to understand the priorities and schedule for the day/week
· Maintain excellent records of all freight received and shipped
· Maintain a clean and safe working environment
· Outside yard chores around company buildings as needed
Requirements:
· Candidate must be personable, dependable, physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Good communication skills with vendors and camp managers.
· Possess a current State of Alaska driver’s license with a good driving record. CDL not required.
· Must be able to drive a pickup truck to deliver freight
· Willingness to learn to use small warehouse forklifts for loading and unloading freight/pallets.
· Personal vehicle may be used for some expediting if desired and will be reimbursed at the federal rate of $0.725 per mile.
· Be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug test
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
