Bus Driver

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious individual to join the Taholah School District as a full-time Bus Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting students safely and efficiently to and from school, ensuring a positive and secure environment for all passengers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a commitment to student safety, and a passion for supporting the educational mission of our district.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and proper functioning.
• Maintain a clean and organized bus interior, ensuring a welcoming environment for students.
• Assist students as they board and exit the bus, ensuring their safety at all times.
• Monitor student behavior on the bus and implement appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and any changes.
• Attend all required training sessions and meetings to stay updated on safety protocols and district policies.
• Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate authorities promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of routes, student counts, and incidents as required by the district.
• Foster a positive relationship with students and families, promoting a respectful and supportive atmosphere.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.
• Clean driving record and a strong understanding of traffic laws and regulations.
• Previous experience driving a bus or large vehicle preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to manage student behavior and handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening as required by district policy.
• Flexibility to work early morning and late afternoon hours, with potential for additional hours as needed.
