Seasonal Swim Instructor & Water Safety Aide (51378)

Tahoe Donner Association is looking for fun and personable Swim Instructor Water Safety Aide to join our Summer Aquatics Team!  Swim Instructor Water Safety Aides are responsible for assisting the lifeguard in organizing and instructing American Red Cross format swim lessons or equivalent. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees.
2. Maintain current knowledge, implement and enforce Association policies, procedures, rules and regulations.  Maintains discipline and orderly conduct.
3. Uphold Tahoe Donner Association’s zero tolerance standard for sexual abuse and molestation by following protocols to protect campers from inappropriate behavior by staff, members, guests, public and other campers.
4. Open and/or close pool facilities including removing and replacing pool covers. Ensure pool equipment is in proper working order.
5. Assist Lifeguard/Swim Instructor in evaluating students and determining appropriate swim technique to instruct.
6. Assist Lifeguard/Swim instructor in demonstrating proper swim techniques to students in swimming pool.
7. Assist Lifeguard/Instructor in implementing lesson plans.
8. Assist Lifeguard/Swim Instructor in preparing class materials and assists in set-up and take-down of swim lesson equipment and materials used daily.

We are looking for the following qualifications:

• Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications for infants, children and adults are recommended.
• Current American Red Cross lifeguard certification recommended.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and “people skills”; Must love interacting and engaging with people of all ages.
• Must be able to cooperate and communicate with co-workers effectively.
• Must work well with children and adults of all ages and swimming backgrounds.
• Energetic, outgoing personality.
• Must be flexible in ability to adapt to new situations and group dynamics.
• Creative and able to engage students in a learning environment.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a High school Diploma or equivalent plus up to one-month related training; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.

Salary : $17 - $23
