What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Leader (51080) position at TAHOE DONNER ASSOCIATION?
Tahoe Donner Association is looking for fun and personable Day Camp Leaders to join our Day Camps Team! The Day Camp Leader is responsible for leading and supervising campers, and overseeing day-to-day operation of the assigned camp, while encouraging safety. Leaders participate with campers in all activities, is engaging with campers, and must enjoy the outdoors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees. Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties.
- Uphold Tahoe Donner Association’s zero tolerance standard for sexual abuse and molestation by following protocols to protect participants from inappropriate behavior by staff, members, guests, public and other participants.
- Assist members and guests with information about Day Camps and recreational activities.
- Maintain understanding of Association rules, regulations, and prescribed program guidelines and complies with safety regulations.
- Participate with set-up and dismantling program props, signs, and other equipment as needed. Clean and maintain camp area, supplies and equipment.
- Plan, lead, supervise and actively participate in and evaluate assigned camp activities with children.
- Help plan weekly activities for the camp. Fill out weekly activity sheets for the camp and is responsible for turning activity sheets into the Day Camp Assistant Supervisor.
- Assist in cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming the floors, taking out trash and mopping the floor daily.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Demonstrates excellent communication and “people skills”; must love engaging and interacting with children.
- Requires strong organization skills.
- Must be a high energy, self-starter, with keen interest and ability in outdoor adventure.
- Requires current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications for infants, children and adults.
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of relevant experience and/or training in recreation; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
