Position: Outpatient Therapist – CCIS
Location: Flint, Michigan
Department: Community Crisis and Intensive Services (CCIS)
Salary Range: $27.53 – $37.13 per hour
Signing Bonus: $5,000
Overview:
The Outpatient Therapist provides individual, family, and group outpatient therapy using evidence-based practices (EBPs). This role includes delivering crisis intervention and case disposition consistent with EBP protocols. The position serves individuals with mental illness, emotional disturbances, developmental disabilities, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Education and Licensure:
Applicants must have a master’s degree in one of the following fields and hold (or be eligible for) the corresponding Michigan license:
- Social Work: Master’s in Social Work (MSW) and a Michigan LMSW. Candidates with an LLMSW will be considered. LLMSW staff must pass the ASWB exam and obtain LMSW licensure within six years.
- Counseling: Master’s in Counseling and a Michigan LPC. Candidates with an LLC (formerly LLPC) will be considered. LLC staff must pass the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and obtain LPC licensure within six years.
- Psychology: Master’s in Psychology and a Michigan LLP. Candidates with a TLLP will be considered. TLLP staff must pass the EPPP and obtain LLP licensure within 18 months or before the TLLP expires.
- Marriage and Family Therapy: Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Michigan LMFT. Candidates with an LLMFT will be considered. LLMFT staff must pass the AMFTRB examination and obtain LMFT licensure within six years.
**All licensed clinical staff must maintain valid licensure as a condition of employment.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with mental illness, severe emotional disturbances, and/or developmental disabilities is required.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to participate in frequent team consultation and supervision.
- Must attend all required trainings scheduled by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) or GHS.
- Must be willing to work with adults, adolescents, and children with a range of mental health needs, including co-occurring substance use disorders and trauma histories.
- Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and use of a vehicle during working hours.
- Must be credentialed or eligible for credentialing through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or register for a Development Plan to become a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) within 30 days of hire.
- Must meet third-party billing requirements according to professional scope.
- Must have training and clinical experience in evidence-based therapy models such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Family Psychoeducation (FPE), and Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM).
- Must obtain and retain MDHHS qualifications as a Child Mental Health Professional.
- Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
