Taft is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Public Affairs Strategies Group in our Washington, DC - Capital Hill office.
We are seeking a Public Affairs Strategies Group Legal Assistant with 3 years’ experience to support our Washington, DC - Capital Hill office. A Legal Assistant serves clients by providing administrative support to attorneys and paralegals. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedules appointments, coordinates travel and manages calendars.
- Assists with scheduling and management of client and legislative meetings.
- Responsible for drafting communication, report writings and response letters.
- Responsible for the initial drafting of new client proposals and letters of engagement.
- Assists with filing documents and record keeping for future reference; write documents, prepare presentations, and modify spreadsheets as required.
- Monitors legislative, administrative hearings and press conferences.
- Assists with the timely and correct submission of registrations.
- Maintains a working knowledge of individual clients and objective(s).
- Carefully monitors deadlines, being proactive in assuring that deadlines are met.
- Possesses the ability to interact with all levels of personnel, including government officials and their staff.
- Responds to requests with a sense of urgency and effectively prioritizes work.
- Displays strong attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of three (3) years, preferably in a law firm or lobbying environment
- Proficiency in MS Office application suite, Kofax/Nuance, InTapp, LMS , iManage, Bighand or those software programs’ counterparts strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of FileSite/iManage preferred
- Effective time management with ability to multi-task and shift priorities successfully to meet necessary deadlines
- Strong client service skills and the ability to follow client specific protocols
- Professional demeanor with enthusiastic attitude
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills, sufficient to set and manage priorities; ability to problem-solve; and to self-start and assure that work is completed timely.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to professionally interact with clients, elected officials and legislative staff.
- Ability and willingness to work under strict deadlines to deliver high-quality documents and has a strong attention to detail
- Is a reliable and dependable team player, balances team and individual responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; good judgment and analytical and problem-solving skills.
Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, flexible spending, 401K,Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus and more. The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $86,000. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
