Childcare Aide Core Duties & Responsibilities
● Supervision & Safety:
○ Monitor children continuously indoors, outdoors, and during transitions
(e.g., bus arrivals, walking to the cafeteria or playground) to ensure
physical safety.
○ Enforce site safety rules, behavioral expectations, and emergency
procedures.
● Homework & Academic Support:
○ Oversee and guide children working on school homework or reading.
Activity & Recreation Facilitation:
○ Assist lead teachers or site coordinators in organizing and leading group
games, arts and crafts, sports, and enrichment activities.
○ Foster an inclusive, positive, and engaging environment that supports
social-emotional development.
● Snack & Meal Assistance:
○ Help prepare, serve, and clean up daily snacks or meals while
encouraging good hygiene and manners.
● Behavioral Guidance & Conflict Resolution:
○ Use positive reinforcement and conflict-resolution strategies to help
children manage peer interactions, share, and express emotions
constructively.
● Communication & Administration:
○ Maintain accurate attendance records and sign-in/sign-out sheets.
○ Communicate professionally with parents/guardians at pick-up.
