Job Summary
The Technical Writer is responsible for writing, rewriting and/or editing technical documents, such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operations specification and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences for Tadano Manitex products. Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the employee will develop operation, service and parts manuals and other technical documentation for Tadano Manitex products. Will work collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing to complete on-time projects. The employee must exhibit acceptable interpersonal skills and the continuous ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures for operation, service and parts manuals and technical documentation for Tadano Manitex products in electronic and hard copy formats.
- Consistently analyzes and organizes documents to maintain continuity of style of content with other Tadano Group companies
- Research, develop and document technical design specifications for manuals and technical literature.
- Manage updates and revisions to manuals and technical literature as directed or needed.
- Interacts with members of the Engineering, Customer Support, and Manufacturing departments as well as outside suppliers to acquire the product information needed in documentation.
- Ability to use CAD data (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred) to produce documentation as required, including spare parts manuals, operation or repair instructions, etc.
- Assists with maintaining a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation based on Tadano Manitex standardization.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as English, Technical Writing, or Technical Communications field.
- A minimum of 2 years’ industry experience as an effective technical writer; 8 years preferred.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
- Proven experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.
- Familiar with CAD, solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred),
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign
- Proficient in other commonly used programs for publishing, including all MS Office programs.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.
- Ability to make progress by completing tasks and deliverables in a multi-tasking environment and complete concurrent assignments on time.
- Ability to work collaborative with engineering and manufacturing and accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally if requested or required.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally (such as files or office supplies).
- Regular use of hands and fingers to operate office equipment (keyboard, calculator, phone).
- Work primarily performed in a professional office environment with minimal exposure to noise, temperature changes, or other environmental factors.
