Network Engineer plays a critical role in supporting DoD contracts and Joint Mission Integration and Experimentation (JMIE) infrastructure by providing expertise in network architecture and transport engineering. Partnering directly with customers, the engineer plans, designs, implements, and sustains secure communications and transport solutions that enable reliable data exchange across classified facilities and cloud environments. The role involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment; monitoring system performance; and applying DoD Information Assurance policies. In addition, the engineer maintains a comprehensive library of engineering tools, produces detailed documentation and tutorials, and consistently applies leading‑edge standards and best practices to ensure a robust, compliant, and high‑performance networking environment.CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITESAbility to perform the following independently, under minimum supervision:Design and implement network solutions based on organizational needs and best practices.Configure and maintain network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points).Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve complex network issues.Monitor network performance, analyze traffic, and optimize for efficiency and security.Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and procedural guides.Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders on network projects and upgrades.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and support staff.Ensure compliance with security standards and organizational policies.SKILLS & ABILITIESOver three (3) years' experience and possess a deep understanding of:TroubleshootingNetworking protocolsNetwork DesignConfiguring and managing network devicesNetwork monitoring tools and security implementationsCloud networking conceptsSecurity measures and frameworksAutomation tools for network managementCloud computing platforms, preferredMaintaining, configuring, operating and troubleshooting complex electronic computer interface systems and network equipment (taclanes, firewalls, routers, switches)Five (5) or more years of experience with implementation and understanding of Engineering principles in a professional environmentFive (5) or more years of experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of network architecturesEDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONSBS STEM Degree PreferredIAT LV III RequiredIT Operating System Certification, (i.e. LINUX, Microsoft, etc) RequiredCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) RequiredCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) PreferredTYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS General office environmentComputer/Equipment lab 100% On-site RequirementPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMay be expected to lift up to 25 lbsFrequent use of keyboard and typingFrequent sitting and standingWORK SCHEDULE9/80The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements.PAY RANGE$120,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually, DOEU.S. Citizenship is RequiredSECURITY CLEARANCECandidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance and CI Polygraph within last 5yr, or ability to pass CI polygraph within 6mo of hire. Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. Candidates will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score).
