Role Description The Arborist role is a contract, on-site position based in Stafford, VA. The Arborist will perform daily tasks such as assessing tree health and risk, identifying tree species, and recommending appropriate pruning, removal, or preservation actions. Responsibilities include conducting safe tree removals, pruning and structural trimming, coordinating stump grinding, and supporting emergency tree service calls as needed. The Arborist will work closely with crew members to ensure safe job site practices, operate equipment in accordance with company standards, and communicate clearly with clients about findings and recommended services. The role may also support landscape health improvements and property maintenance activities where tree care expertise is required.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Arboriculture and practical experience working with Trees in residential and commercial settings.
- Skills in Forestry and Tree Identification to accurately assess species, health, and structural integrity.
- Certified Arborist credential (ISA or equivalent) or substantial professional arborist experience; commitment to ongoing industry education.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including climbing, lifting, and operating tree care equipment.
- Understanding of safe work practices, including use of PPE, rigging, and chainsaw safety; solid awareness of OSHA and industry guidelines.
- Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with clients and team members; strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s license with a reliable means of transportation to job sites; clean driving record preferred.
- Experience in landscaping, stump grinding, or hardscape installation is beneficial but not required.
