Commissary Driver – Job Description
Reports to: Commissary Manager / Director of Operations
Location: Van Nuys Commissary Kitchen
Schedule: 6 nights per week (overnight delivery shift starting at 10pm)
Position Summary
The Commissary Driver is responsible for safely and accurately delivering all prepped products from the Tacos 1986 commissary kitchen to each restaurant location. This role ensures each store receives the correct quantity of fresh product as needed for daily operations.
The ideal candidate is punctual, organized, and committed to food safety and product integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Delivery Operations
- Pick up all prepared items from the commissary based on nightly production sheets.
- Review and verify quantities
- Load delivery vehicle securely to prevent damage, spills, or cross-contamination.
- Deliver products to all assigned Tacos 1986 locations following the nightly delivery route.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, including time stamps, item quantities, and temperature checks.
Food Safety & Quality
- Ensure all products are transported at safe temperatures (cold)
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures.
- Report any damaged, missing, or spoiled items immediately to the Commissary Manager.
Vehicle Care & Compliance
- Drive safely with full adherence to traffic laws and company policies.
- Keep delivery vehicle clean, organized, and fueled.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (tires, fluids, lights).
- Report any mechanical issues immediately.
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate with restaurants during drop-off when needed.
- Return signed delivery sheets to the commissary after each shift.
- Notify Commissary Manager of shortages, concerns, or store-specific needs.
Qualifications
- Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Experience in food delivery or logistics preferred.
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work overnight/early morning shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, lifting, bending, and carrying boxes and containers.
- Working in cold environments (walk-in coolers).
- Ability to perform repetitive motions during loading/unloading.
