What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at Taconic Builders?
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage billing for assigned construction projects, including:
- AIA billing (Stipulated Sum, Cost-Plus, and GMP contracts)
- Service work (Fixed Price and Time & Material)
- Take ownership of assigned projects and ensure all billings are accurate, timely, and compliant with contract requirements.
- Partner closely with Project Managers to review project progress and ensure accurate invoicing.
- Maintain complete, organized, and up-to-date project billing files and supporting documentation.
- Respond promptly to internal and external billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Assist with month-end billing activities and other accounting-related tasks.
- Provide administrative and financial support to the CFO as needed.
- Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of construction billing experience preferred, including familiarity with AIA billing procedures.
- Experience with construction ERP/accounting software (such as Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and billing requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Highly detail-oriented, dependable, and accountable with a strong commitment to accuracy.
Compensation:
Salary: $75,000–$105,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
