Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Dog Play Care Training Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and training, with solid skills in customer service. This role involves caring for dogs in our Enrichment Day Care program and providing support to trainers and clients alike. This can be a really fun and rewarding job for someone looking to gain experience working with dogs and gain first hand knowledge of training dogs from certified professional dog trainers.
The Play Care Training Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring that both animals and their humans receive the best possible guidance and support throughout their varied services with us.
Responsibilities
- Receiving dogs at drop off
- Supervise play groups
- Taking dogs on potty walks
- Following daily and weekly cleaning routines.
- Playing with and keeping dogs engaged and enriched while learning how to determine when breaks are needed.
- Taking payments, maintaining the attendance book and packages for each dog
- Assist trainers in conducting training sessions and classes.
- Provide hands-on support during training exercises, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
- Maintain a clean and organized training environment, including equipment and supplies.
- Engage with clients for all customer service requests including payment processing and general inquiries.
- May include documenting training sessions and progress reports. As well as typing email homework.
- Participate in ongoing education to enhance skills related to animal care, behavior, and training techniques.
Qualifications
- Experience or knowledge in fear free dog training will be highly considered.
- Background in animal care or pet sitting in beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
- Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Passion for working with animals and a commitment to their welfare.
- Previous experience in pet sitting or pet care is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strength and ability to handle dogs sometimes exceeding 100lbs on leash outdoors.
- Highschool/GED Equivalent earned.
- Patience and kindness towards animals and humans alike.
- Availability to fill most if not all of the following hours:
- Wednesday –12pm-3pm
- Thursday– 12pm-6pm
- Friday– 9am-3pm
- (Saturday & Sunday options)
