Class A CDL Instructor
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Class A CDL Instructor to join our team. The instructor will be responsible for training and preparing students to obtain their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A. This role involves classroom instruction, hands-on training, and in-vehicle instruction to ensure students gain the skills necessary to become safe, competent, and professional commercial drivers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Classroom Instruction: Conduct engaging classroom sessions on various aspects of CDL training, including traffic laws, safe driving practices, logbook maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide Practical, In-Vehicle Training: Guide students through hands-on driving exercises, such as pre-trip inspections, coupling and uncoupling, backing maneuvers, and over-the-road driving.
- Develop Customized Training Plans: Assess students' skill levels and adjust instruction to ensure they achieve the required competency.
- Ensure Safety Standards: Promote a safety-first environment by teaching and enforcing all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Evaluate Student Progress: Perform regular assessments, provide feedback, and offer additional guidance to help students improve and meet testing standards.
- Maintain Student Records: Document student attendance, progress, test scores, and any incidents, ensuring accurate and compliant records.
- Stay Updated with Industry Regulations: Keep current with federal and state regulations affecting CDL licensing and driving practices.
Qualifications:
- Required: Valid Class A CDL license with a minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience.
- Preferred: Prior experience in training or education, particularly within the trucking or transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Excellent communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate and instruct on various types of commercial vehicles.
- Patient, supportive, and able to adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work both indoors (classroom) and outdoors (driving range and road).
- Physically capable of performing and teaching pre-trip inspections, coupling/uncoupling trailers, and other hands-on tasks associated with truck driving.
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
